Google may change the future of driving and automobiles forever. The leading internet company, previously developing self-driving cars with the option for a human driver to take over in the event of an emergency, is changing gears (no pun intended). Google’s latest automated vehicles do not even have a driver’s seat. In fact, there is no steering wheel, gas pedal, or brake. What is Google trying to accomplish, and how will it impact the future of transportation?

Google Releases Self-Driving Vehicles Without Brakes, Gas Pedals, Or Steering Wheels

“They won’t have a steering wheel, accelerator pedal, or brake pedal… because they don’t need them. Our software and sensors do all the work,” Google explains in an official blog post. “We’ll have two seats (with seatbelts), a space for passengers’ belongings, buttons to start and stop, and a screen that shows the route — and that’s about it.” Google developers added that it is impractical to expect a human, who may or may not be paying attention, to take over if something goes wrong. Currently, Google is experimenting with 100 prototypes. To keep testing and trial runs safe, Google will restrict the new vehicles to 25 miles per hour.

When Will We See These Futuristic Models On The Roads?

Google’s experiments raise important questions. With time, will new cars and good used cars be entirely automated? Will people willing give up driving for self-driving vehicles instead? What about affordable used cars? Will traditional models remain on sale? Will rentals and rental cars for sale be automated?

The answers to these questions are not entirely clear. Google estimated the release of its original self-driving vehicles for 2017. They have not given approximations for the new models.

Google may change the way we buy used cars (or compare used cars) forever. The internet giant continues experimenting with self-driving vehicles, changing the ways we think about transportation and good used cars. Helpful info also found here: www.vitosautosalesrentals.com
