Three Things to Keep in Mind When You’re Buying a Hybrid Car
Since they’ve been on the American market for about 15 years now, its a really good time to buy a hybrid. The technology has advanced enough that they are more reliable, better performing, and longer lasting. Additionally, they still offer unrivaled fuel economy, and hybrid owners can even sometimes get tax incentives for buying one. Here are a few things you need to know when you’re shopping for a hybrid car.
1. Know the Engine
The first thing you need to know about your potential hybrid is what kind of engine it has. There are actually a few different kinds of hybrid vehicles, which sort of fall somewhere on a spectrum between traditional internal combustion cars and fully electric cars. You need to know what kind of engine is in the car, and how much the car will rely on hybrid batteries.
2. What the Warranty Is
Another important thing you need to look into when you’re shopping for a hybrid car is what the battery on the warranty is. This actually varies depending on the state you’re buying the car in, but warranties are typically about eight years or 100,000 miles. Though studies in the past have shown that hybrid battery replacement can be needed as soon as six years, technology has advanced.
3. Fuel Economy
Another important thing you need to consider when you’re buying a hybrid car is what the fuel economy of the car is. This is going to be dependent on the way you drive, sure, but different makes and models of hybrid cars have different levels of fuel efficiency, which is going to have an effect on how much money you’re saving on gas (obviously).
